Strictly 2019: Alex Scott in tears after Shirley Ballas' 'personal taste' exit decision

Strictly 2019: Alex Scott in tears after Shirley Ballas' 'personal taste' exit decision Alex, 35, and her Strictly Come Dancing professional partner Neil Jones, 37, joined It Takes Two host Rylan Clark-Neal, 31, after they found themselves as the unlucky pair making their exit from the BBC dance show last night. It was down to Shirley Ballas, 59, to decide between the sportswoman and comedian Chris Ramsey, 33, with the former being the unlucky celebrity. As the pair discussed their journey, the sports pundit shed a few tears as she reflected on her journey. After they performed a Samba for their quarter-final routine, Alex and Neil found themselves bottom of the leaderboard, just below their dance-off competitors. Following another performance in last night’s results show, the panel were split, leading Shirley to step in and have the final say. Commenting on her decision, the head judge said: “Both couples danced extremely well and for me it’s going to go personal taste.” With Chris still in the running for the crown, the eliminated contestant spoke for the first time since her exit and became quite emotional.  READ MORE Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Claudia Winkleman issues apology to Kelvin  Following a VT of their final performance, the camera returned to the It Takes Two studio where Alex could be seen wiping away tears. Noticing the footballer’s reaction, Rylan said: “I can see how much this means to you. I can see you getting teary there. “I was alright until you showed me that lot,” the former contestant exclaimed as she tried to put on a brave face through the tears, As she composed herself, the host commented: “What I loved about this partnership as well, for you it’s your first time ever on Strictly - Neil, it’s your first time as pro as well. “How’s it been for the both of you watching that back?”  Neil replied: “It’s hard to say. “It was such a great experience to do together and we had so much fun all the way through and I think it is like doing the last dance together, Joyful Joyful - it really was. After wiping away the rest of her tears, Alex said: “I actually feel like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I feel like Charlie - I won the golden ticket. “I just loved very moment and I said to Neil from day one, it wasn’t about me, it was about our journey because I know how special it was for him in his first year.”  Turing to her professional partner, the footballer commented: “Thank you for being amazing and for being patient with me. “It was hard, but he stuck at it. You worked miraculous to even get me that far, so thank you.” Alex was the 11th celebrity to be voted off and speaking in her column for Hello! Magazine, Shirley explained why she chose to send the sports pundit home. Being a trained dancer herself, the head judge commented she would have struggled to identify the routine as a Samba, therefore justifying the “personal taste remark” made in the results show.
