'Peculiar People' | What does it mean for Christians to be 'Peculiar'? | [iBelieveBible] Many young Christians will often hear their elders advise them to stay away from the "influences of the world" on the basis of this rationale: we are supposed to be a "peculiar people." does being “peculiar” mean we have to be strange or out of touch with society? Well, not quite. This is a common misconception that comes from a phrase in the King James Version of the Bible whose English meaning has been lost to us.

The Apostle Paul made it clear that the weirdest thing about Christians is the fact that we believe Jesus saved the world by loving his enemies and allowing them to murder him. (1 Corinthians 1:18-25). To some, a crucified Messiah is foolishness, to others it is a stumbling block. But this strange and sometimes ghastly teaching is the truth that ultimately sets Christians apart.
