Greek Island Thrown into Chaos by Refugee Influx

Greek Island Thrown into Chaos by Refugee Influx A surge in the number of refugees has thrown the Greek island of Lesvos into chaos.

The big influx of refugees was caused by the recent decision by Turkey to open its border.

As the local people worried about the crowded refugee camps, part of them have put up outpost to block the main streets, obstructing the disembarkation of new arrivals and their transfer to the Moria refugee camp.

With a population of about 86,000 people, Lesvos currently hosts about 19,400 refugees at the Moria camp, which has a holding capacity of about 2,800, according to official data.
