Peter Speake Marin on the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms:
Watches Tonight and Tim Mosso return with a full deck of luxury watch discussion, opinion, and passion to share with our global audience of watch collectors and watch enthusiasts. This evening's show includes an overview of F.P. Journe alternatives, Tim's favorite utility watches, and interactive discussion with our live audience.
"Sports watch" is an amorphous term; what "sport" involves wearing a Patek Philippe Nautilus or Audemars Piguet Royal Oak? Instead, Tim focuses on his favorite "utility" watches, or timepieces engineered to assist with defined jobs or activities.
The Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue is Tim's favorite "technician's watch" and likely will be his first Rolex. The MB&F HM5 and the H. Moser & Cie Streamliner are Tim's favorite "driver's watches" for fun behind the wheel. The Breitling Navitimer Spatiographe, the Cartier Santos (blue dial), and the Omega X-33 are your host's favorite pilot's watches. Finally, the legendary Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is Tim Mosso's personal preference in dive watches
F.P. Journe watches seem to be approaching the same levels of waitlists, hype, and (preowned) markup currently endemic to Rolex and Patek Philippe markets. Instead of waiting two years for a Chronometre Bleu, Tim suggests that watch buyers consider alternatives from independent watch brands including Kari Voutilainen, De Bethune, and H. Moser & Cie. of Schaffhausen. All of these watch brands offer independent horology mystique, exclusivity, and imagination without descending into the realm of preowned markups or outrageous dealer waits.
Tonight, our show will feature all of the above plus live chat and wrist shots from our global audience of watch buyers, watch collectors, and watch enthusiasts!
