How To Refinish A Lacquered Wood Table | House Beautiful

It's no secret that we here at House Beautiful are big fans of vintage and antique furniture—all the more so when it has a personal story attached. So, it should come as no surprise that one of our team members carted her grandmother's midcentury Bassett Furniture coffee table all the way from Kansas to Brooklyn, where it holds center stage in her living room. But, after some 70 years of wear—not to mention the cross country road trip—the table was in need of a little TLC. So, we took the project on, bringing the table to the House Beautiful studio to give it a refinish that would bring it back to its former glory—and ensure at least another 70 years of use. Here's how we did it—and how you can do the same to that dusty antique in your garage.
