PLEASE check out link re Oregon Coast in WINTER....BEAUTIFUL! In 1962 Oregon had an epic windstorm that almost blew Portland area off the map.
Its the strongest wind event in Oregon...I pray we never experience something like that, but...'about 15 yrs ago we had 75 mph winds up on our ridge. We had windows boarded up...it was scary.
There was 150 mph...and 180 in north Oregon....warm moist air moving up from California, met with cold air coming from Alaska PLUS coming from the west "Typhoon" Frieda.
46 people were killed.
Whenever is windy like that we stay home as trees falling on cars is deadly.
