Stockton PD Press Release: “On December 8, 2019, around 5:00 pm, Stockton police officers responded to the 7900 block of N. El Dorado Street on a report of an attempted carjacking. When officers arrived, several people were holding the down the suspect. Officers took custody of the suspect and then met with the victim. The victim reported the suspect gained entry inside her vehicle while she and her three children (11 y/o, 6 y/o, and 5 months) were inside. The suspect then climbed over her three children to get into the driver’s seat. Fearing for her children’s safety, the victim fought the suspect and began to honk the horn which got the attention of her husband who was outside the vehicle. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and fought with her husband. Her husband and several bystanders then held the suspect down on the ground until the police arrived. Arrested was Elijah Cervantes, 22, for attempted carjacking. He was also found to be on parole for robbery. Cervantes was transported to an area hospital to be medically cleared and then was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.”
