Trump Administration Proposal May Take Away Free Lunch For Some Students

Trump Administration Proposal May Take Away Free Lunch For Some Students The Trump administration recently made a proposal to reduce the number of people who get food stamps. According to the Huffington Post, this means nearly a million children could stop being eligible for free school lunches. Half of those kids would be switched to reduced prices for lunch and the rest would pay full price. The School Nutrition Association said the average price of lunch was $2.48 for elementary school students in 2016-2017. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the proposal could cut $90 million a year from the costs of lunch and breakfast programs.
