Why Are There So Many Keto Dessert Recipes If We Shouldn't Eat Sweet Tasting Food For Best Results? Why are there so many keto dessert recipes if we shouldn't snack or eat sweet tasting food to prevent our blood sugar from spiking? (shortened question 🤩)

The Full Question: If the tongue registers something sweet, it signals the brain that sends a message and the body stimulates insulin production that can affect ketosis. Even if the sugar is an approved keto sugar, does the body still work the same? Perhaps this is a scientific question for Jeremy. If it does, why are there so many recipes for desserts?

The answer?

The Cepahlic Phase Insulin Response (CPIR) is still a necessary part of our biology. The mere thought of food or the chewing of food can elicit this response from the body. I think that one of the main goals of ketosis it to promote both lower insulin demands on the body, but also increased insulin sensitivity of our tissues. The second part being more important to me personally. Insulin is commonly thought to just have this one job of getting glucose into the cell, but it has so many other signaling responsibilities and plays a role in both protein and lipid metabolism. So, it doesn’t concern me that my body might be doing some preparatory work with insulin during CPIR, my job is to eat in a way that keeps me highly sensitive to insulin so that ‘a little can go a long way’
