Advocates say we need to recognize caregivers in our lives and shed light on challenges they face When asked how we can bring more visibility to the challenges caregivers’ face, Ai-jen Poo, the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, and Philadelphia Councilmember Kendra Brooks say we need to be more vocal about recognizing the people in our lives who provide care to our loved ones. ‘I think it’s the expectation [that] women [should] highlight...who’s taking care of their children or helping take care of their parents and all of this. But men need to recognize all the things that help the women in their lives be successful and expose it more, because that’s how we’re going to shed light on it. It’s easy for it to be a woman’s issue. We need to make this a people’s issue.’
