In February 2019 Christopher Watts was interview in the prison in Winsconsin. When asked about Shanann fighting back he didn't really answer but went on to say he wondered if she was thinking of a Bible passage "Forgive them for they know not what they do!" Whilst this is the correct Bible quote, many would have turned this into "Forgive HIM because HE knows not what HE does".
