VivoBarefoot Gobi II (Long Term) Review

VivoBarefoot Gobi II (Long Term) Review This is my Long term review of the vivobarefoot Gobi II Shoes.

When I purchased these shoes, there was still some consternation in the market about the viability of minimal footwear, much less a casual shoe.

The Gobi II is the original minimalist desert boot, Made from naturally scarred leather from free-roaming cattle.

The desert boot is an Iconic style staple amongst all the major shoe manufacturers, with each company adding their unique twist to the concept, but no other has gone to the lengths of vivobarefoot.

Not only did they deliver high quality styling and materials, they took it a step further implementing subtle changes, such as the cork insole and a buttery sole that feels as if it could melt in your hands, while simultaneously providing excellent grip and protection from the environment.

Gobi II features:

1. Wild Hide leather

2. Removable Cork Insole –
3. Leather Footbed – molds to your foot for perfect fit. While the I prefer the cork insole, for greater ground feel, you can wear these without the insoles, relying on the high quality leather foot-bed. The Leather foot-bed is a supple as the upper material and will form towards the shape of your foot, with prolonged use.

4. Non-Marking TPU Outsole – our thinnest and most durable. This thin outsole allows for the most flexible shoe I have ever worn, You would think that a thin sole would not provide such a high level grip, but actually, the thinness of sole actually allows for a greater grip of the ground, actually molding itself around the numerous protruding hazards in an urban environment.

The biggest surprise to me was how soft the shoes were. I’ve always thought leather was a hard, restrictive material until you break it in. Not with these!

Slipping these shoes on provides for the most natural feel I have ever experienced in a shoe. The cork insole and leather footbed provides just enough cushion for your foot to be comfortable in the insole without losing its connection with the ground. The leather sides and upper do not constrict your ankle and foot mobility.

Available in Black and Brown, I purchased a 45M and if you are familiar with the sizing of vivobarefoot, you know they run slighlty larger, maybe by half a size, to allow for toe splay.

These Minimal shoes by vivobarefoot have stood a few years of heavy usage and still look like they have many miles to go.
Barefoot shoes have come a long way since their 2017, but these minimal shoes are definitely a classic and solidified my conversion to only wearing barefoot or minimal shoes.

These vivobarefoot Gobi ii shoes are great for people with flexible flat feet, they do not have any arch support. Allowing your feet to feel free.
The wide toe box is one of the widest I have tried allowing maximum comfort when worn.
