Taliban Talks are ‘hugely significant‘

Taliban Talks are ‘hugely significant‘ According to Sky News Foreign Coordinator Brent O’Halloran, the Taliban talks are “hugely significant” and Trumps comment that a “peace deal could be signed” is “extraordinary”.

The conflict in Afganistan has claimed the lives of 41 Australians and more than 3,400 Australian troops have been involved in operations within Afghanistan since 2001.

Mr O’Halloran told Sky News Host Peter Gleeson “there is a real chance that these talks could bring about an end to this 18 year conflict”.

“The fact that the US is speaking with the Taliban, an organisation it deemed a terrorist entity and which it drove from power, is significant,” he said.
