MPs call for insurance coverage to be made compulsory for users of motorised mobility devices

MPs call for insurance coverage to be made compulsory for users of motorised mobility devices The ban on riding e-scooters on footpaths will be extended to all motorised mobility devices in April. Two laws were passed in Parliament on Feb 4. The updated Active Mobility Act will now cover motorised skateboards, unicycles and hoverboards. From the second half of 2020, riders below 16 cannot use PMDs unless supervised by an adult above 21. From early 2021, e-bike and PMD users must pass an online theory test before they can ride their devices. During the debate in Parliament, 11 MPs rose to support the bills, but many called for insurance coverage to be made compulsory for anyone using such devices.
