Professor David Heymann said Wednesday that although they are “beginning to understand a lot about the disease,” they are still unsure of the “reproductive number” of the virus, or how easily it transmits between humans. Heymann previously led the World Health Organization’s response to SARS and has been an advisor to the organization on its response to COVID-19.
Heymann also said that “countries must continue to do what they can” to contain the spread of COVID-19 to stop outbreaks and “interrupt transmission.”
