Two unarmed Russian Tupolev Tu-160 bomber aircraft touched down at the Waterkloof Air Force Base on Wednesday afternoon, as the SA Air Force (SAAF) hosts the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation (AFRF) during a visit in South Africa. The bombers which undertook a nonstop journey from Russia, were accompanied by the SAAF’s own Gripen and Hawk aircraft as the entered South African airspace.
The two heavy bomber aircraft, which are supersonic and capable of carrying nuclear weapons arrived in South Africa unarmed. For this story and more, visit News24:
