Farmers counting losses in Trans Nzoia and Rift valley regions following heavy downpour The flood crisis in the country could have an adverse effect on food security with farmers now worried of the aftermath of the intense rainfall that has pounded several parts of the country for two weeks now. Farmers in Kitale project losses of upto 20% while in Pastoralist areas among them Turkana, Garissa and Marsabit flash floods have killed livestock and polluted the few available water sources. Elphas Lagat now reports on the weather patterns that are not only causing death and destruction in the immediate term but whose aftermath has gotten farmers worried.
